Everything You Need to Know About the Sports Broadcast Academy
What is the Sports Broadcast Academy and who can join?
The Sports Broadcast Academy is a hands-on training program by the Scholar Athletes Sports Network (SASN) that teaches high school students across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia how to broadcast live sports, produce digital content, and build a career in sports media.
Students from public and private high schools in the DMV are welcome to apply. No prior media experience is required — just a passion for sports and storytelling!
What types of sports do students cover in the program?
Our student broadcasters cover a wide range of high school sports including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and more. We provide live game coverage, commentary, highlight reels, and post-game interviews for both public and private school championships across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
Does the program provide career opportunities?
Yes! Many of our alumni use this to enhance college applications and pursue careers in sports journalism, media production, or digital content creation.
We also connect students with mentors, internships, and real-world media opportunities to help them grow their professional network and portfolio.
